Project Outline

Koole Stores phosphoric acid located in the acid facility, this acid facility has been used only for receipt from the dock and discharged to the road prior to this project. With this new export system designed by ourselves in-house Koole now has the capability of exporting product to the dock for tanker loading.

This project gave MD Engineering the opportunity to provide a full design and calculation service to Koole. Where we provided initial drawings for approval and undertook changes as per the client’s request, additionally by consulting directly with site operations and engineering we were able to provide a system that is efficient and effective for operation this also included an ergonomically designed control panel to assist with operation of the system.

The mechanical element of this project needed a branch connection to the existing pigging line which required special safety considerations due to the nature of the product. By conducting a detailed risk analysis and providing training to the working party we were able to conduct this work without any injury.

Also as part of this project was the design and manufacture of a lifting frame. This was to be used to move the export pump for maintenance. We provided full calculations and proof testing for this.

Conclusion

This mechanical project was successfully completed in June 2013; all work was carried out to relevant specifications and codes of practice. All project deliverables were met on time with 0 injuries.
